Silver Oak is timeless. Always indulgent, always a perfect snapshot of the Valley, it’s a wine that has symbolized Napa Cabernet for 50 years now.
We’re thrilled to announce the release of Silver Oak’s stellar Napa Valley Cabernet from the benchmark 2018 vintage—one of the greatest seasons the region has ever seen.
The name of the game in 2018 was a long hang-time. After a steady summer, the vineyards got a little drink of rain in early October, but no more precipitation until November 23rd. This meant that everyone could pick at their leisure—and the result was a spectacular vintage that Wine Spectator awarded 99 points.
Silver Oak, known for its rock-solid consistency and quality, put out a stunner. Just released, the 2018 is lush, structured, and complex—a bottle that every Cabernet lover should have in their cellar for the next decade, or at least on their dinner table in the short term!
Silver Oak has helped drive American interest in fine wine since the 1970s—a fact that can explain their ascent but doesn’t scratch the surface of what has kept them at the top for 50 years. In fact, their impeccable quality seems to be on cruise control only because of a restless desire to improve.
“We have yet to make our best bottle of wine,” Silver Oak's Matt Duncan often says. It’s his forward-looking family’s mantra, and it may be true—but it’s hard to imagine a better set of circumstances in the vineyard than they had in 2018. This one’s headed for the pantheon.
