Inspired by Ireland’s ancient distilling tradition of drying malting barley over peat fires, Connemara’s smooth, sweet malt taste and complex peat flavors make it a truly unique Irish whiskey. For centuries, peat (or turf as it is known locally) was widely used in Ireland to dry cereal crops and to fire the stills. Over the last century this tradition was lost until it was revived to produce world-famous Connemara Single Malt. Opened back in 1757, the Old Kilbeggan Distillery is the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in Ireland.
