92 Points - Wine Advocate Citrus and white-fruit aromas are elegant, smooth and suggestive of Burgundy, which makes sense given that this was aged in oak. The right amount of acidity lends lightness and length to the palate, while ripe lime and honeydew flavors are well oaked. A fresh friendly finish is minerally and crystal clean.
Bodegas Avancia lies snuggled in the slate dominant mountainsides of Valdeorras, high above the Sil River. Named for the extensive gold mining that the Romans conducted in this area, Valdeorras is home to the finest terroir for growing two of Spain’s most important indigenous grapes – Godello and Mencía. Nacho Alvarez created Avancia Godello from the native Godello grape using the most modern wine making technology, which coaxes the greatest possible varietal expression from the wine. The wine is barrel fermented and aged in large format French Oak barrels for 7 months, resulting in a wine with smooth texture.
